Trig’s and Wisconsin Cheesecake Company Answer the Call

December 15, 2005 (Wausau, WI). With the holiday season upon us, two locally owned and operated companies have stepped up to help families in Wausau and surrounding communities enjoy a much-appreciated holiday meal. Trig’s and Wisconsin Cheesecake Company have donated 50 turkeys and 50 cheesecakes, respectively, to help The Salvation Army provide holiday meals.

On Wednesday, December 14th, The Salvation Army reported that they were falling short of their target for turkey donations. “When I heard that the Salvation Army was in need of turkeys, I immediately called our meat manager to see what we could do,” said Alan Alden, Trig’s Store Director. “As a good corporate citizen, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us.”

According to Capt. Kirk Schuetz of The Salvation Army, new requests for meal assistance come in daily. Over 290 families, including 875 children and more than 20 seniors, will benefit from the holiday meals program. Donations have come in from individuals, companies, and civic groups.

“Many people don’t realize the need that exists within our own community,” said Mitch Viegut, President of Wisconsin Cheesecake Company. “We wanted to do our part to help make the holidays special for everyone.”
